About Dr. Castaneda


Dr. Castaneda is an internationally known clinical psychiatrist in private practice in New York City since 1984. He was Director of In-patient Psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York University from 1986 to 2013.

Dr. Castaneda specializes in the psychopharmacological treatment of mood disorders, the treatment of addictions and attention-deficit disorders; and the psychotherapy of severe behavioral and personality disorders.

Psychotherapy: Dr. Castaneda's expertise includes mindfulness-based cognitive psychotherapy and insight oriented psychoterapy. His specialty is the treatment of severe behavioral and personality disorders, especially borderline personality.

Psychopharmacology: Dr. Castaneda has published extensively on his clinical research on the pscyhopharmacology of addiction and attention deficit disorders.
